After a few solid weeks here in the OC we had to go check out the beach. Now we had been down to Laguna Beach but we needed to see where the "locals" hang out. I asked a neighbor and we were off to Salt Creek Beach. This is what it looked like:
See the high cliff? The parking is that high up so it is quite a trek down to the beach. Now, we Reardons don't pack very light so there was some serious strategy happening to figure out how to get everything down to the beach in one trip. Eddie looked like a pack-mule but we did it. Thank goodness for the funicular (I think that's what it was called. Kind of like an elevator, but it went down at an angle.)
It was really pretty, and a perfect day as you can tell by the crowd there. Blake grabbed a boogie board and headed straight to the waves. The water was icy cold! After dipping in a toe, Leah and I retreated to our umbrella. Kara braved the water for a bit, but then settled on the sand.
Shortly after I took this picture the lifeguard came out and got Eddie and Blake. He was "surfing" in a "no surf" zone. Also, lifejackets aren't allowed she said. Really? Apparently the logic here in CA is a little different, they think it's safer without lifejackets. That explains why no one else on the beach was wearing them.
Leah was right at home in the sand. She had a blast and only ate a little :)
